Tidepool Pottery

Welcome to Tidepool Pottery. As I write this, I am in my 25th year as a potter, still filled with the joy of learning and the excitement that marked the first time I touched clay. My work in clay began in 1986 at the Fort Mason Art Center in San Francisco. Originally inspired by the simplicity and elegance of the old Asian pottery, my current work is also informed by my admiration for the ceramic works of Hans Coper and Lucy Rie. Each piece is an original work, a unique reflection on centering, how to draw the shape from the clay, and how it might be used. This approach keeps me fresh as an artist, and gives each piece a life and breath of its own. In addition to being explorations of form and function, my pieces also serve as canvases for modern juxtapositions and interpretations of traditional glazes.
